Nithview Community is a seniors' community designed to provide several types of accommodation and services. Residents are able to choose the type of accommodation that is most appropriate for their care needs and continue to live within the community of care as their needs change. Emphasis is placed on assisting residents to live life to the fullest in this dynamic residential setting.

About the Position:

We are looking for an attending on call physician for one of our Resident Home Areas in Long Term Care– totalling 33 beds. There is opportunity to work with our Medical Director/on call attending for the other home areas as well as the Nurse Practitioner.

  • The Physician attends the home on a weekly basis, to provide clinical care to assigned residents;
  • Addresses resident acute and chronic care needs and provides appropriate and timely documentation;
  • Identifies circumstances in which palliative and/or end of life care may benefit the resident and family members and work collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary team;
  • Works effectively and efficiently with members of the interdisciplinary team including the medical director to ensure the highest level of care is provided to residents;
  • Conducts regular medication drug review and documents/updates resident’s health record;
  • Participates in after hour on-call;
  • Commits to continuing education related to long term care, care of the elderly, palliative care and dementia care;
  • Participates in physician peer review to continually improve resident care.

Qualifications:

    • Licence/Certification:

      • College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario License (required)

    Experience:

    • Experience in a Long-Term Care setting is preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Thorough knowledge of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 and associated regulations including Resident Quality Inspection Process
    • Demonstrated leadership experience and strong communication skills, both verbal and written
